About WikiSniper

An encyclopaedia with the answer missing.

WikiSniper is a guessing game inspired by Wikipedia's infoboxes. Each question hides the subject's name and reveals factual clues one at a time. Your task is to identify the artist, film, figure or event.

How to play

Start with the first clue and enter your answer. Reveal more clues when you need them. Each extra clue reduces the points available for that round. You can pass at any time.

Music and film rounds are the main games. Figures and Events are currently demo categories. Later levels feature harder entries, but there's no requirement to get a minimum number right to continue.

Search for a challenge

The search bar at the top finds entries already in the WikiSniper catalogue. Select a result to start a single surprise round for a friend or to test an entry. These one-off rounds don't count towards your records. The search is a local catalogue search, not a live Wikipedia search.

Scores and records

Scores depend on the clues revealed and the round's rules. The Records page shows your top completed games and five-question sets, stored in this browser. It isn't a public online leaderboard yet, and clearing browser data may erase these records.

Sources

Clues are drawn primarily from Wikipedia infobox information. Music entries may also include a separately researched notable-single clue. Wikipedia and Wikidata are not affiliated with WikiSniper.

Artists · top scores

Only completed five-level runs appear in the complete-games rankings; five-question sets have their own records. Practice entries and unfinished runs are excluded from the full-game table. Records are private to this browser and may be lost if you clear its site data. Scores from different categories are ranked separately.
